A Casual And Stylish Look For My Visit To The Griffith Observatory

A Casual And Stylish Look For My Visit To The Griffith Observatory

The weather has been great in Los Angeles lately. We have not yet experienced the unbelievable heat that often hits us at this time of the year. Last weekend we decided to visit the Griffith Park Observatory, which is really close to where we live, but unfortunately we had not been there in many years. Sometimes you forget the great sites and places that are right under your nose.
The Griffith Park Observatory is located on Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. It offers a planetarium, exhibits, public telescopes, café and bookstore and the best views of the Los Angeles basin. These amazing views were the main reason we decided to go up there on this glorious, sunny and clear day. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. Since it was a pretty clear day, we could see the Hollywood sign and we could see all the way down to the ocean. You can walk around and explore or even bring a blanket and lounge on the grass and enjoy the day. I am sure it is amazing at night and we are planning to go back for a nice evening visit this summer. I highly recommend it as one of the places to visit if you are heading to Los Angeles.
For this visit I wanted to be casual and comfortable yet stylish. I have always loved vests, even though you don’t find many of them for women in the stores. In the past I have had to buy men’s vests in extra small sizes and had to alter them in order to wear them myself. They are such a great substitute for jackets during summer so I am glad there are more of them in stores this year and that they have become a big trend. I ended up wearing my Zara moto vest that I love with some tan color jeans and my fab gladiator sandals. There is a story behind these gladiator sandals and I will try to make it short. I have always loved gladiator sandals, way before they became a big trend. I bought these about five years ago from Juicy Couture and they were actually tall gladiators that came all the way below my knee. After wearing them a few times, I realized that for my height (I am 5’4”) they were a bit much and decided to have them shortened a few inches by my favorite shoe repair place. Voila these gladiator sandals were created. I can’t tell you how many times I have been complemented on them and have been asked where I got them and I have had to explain this story.
What are your thoughts on wearing vests and gladiator sandals?

Moto Vest – Zara
Tan jeans – Rag and Bone
Tank top – Foreign Exchange
Gladiator Sandals – Juicy Couture (old and altered)
Bag – Gucci
Belt – Gucci
Sunglasses – Ray ban

  1. This is my favourite look of yours I’ve seen so far! Great idea of getting your sandals recreated to suit your body shape. They are eye catching and make a real statement! I never would have thought to buy a men’s vest either (although it probably wouldn’t fit over my boobs!) I also love your belt. I can see you have a real style!

  2. First, beautiful stunning pictures of the Observatory and the surrounding area. Stunning! ( as are you) I love his outfit. The pants have a great fit, the zara piece looks great and very versatile, and as one mentioned those sandals are fabulous!! i just love the higher gladiators on people. Love it!

  3. Nora, this is a stunning look! I have been a bit hesitant about gladiator sandals in the past but you rock them!!
I am 5’44 too but you appear taller on your photos which are brilliant anyway.
You look fantastic and I am a bit jealous about your golden tan as we are still waiting for summer weather over here in Germany.

Looking forward to an exciting game against the US team tonight 🙂

    • Hi Annette,
Thank you so much and of course you can try gladiator sandals, the good thing is there are so many variations this year and you will look great in them. I am watching the game as I am writing this 🙂
