Best Jacket Trends for Spring 2015 - Just Style LA

It seems like ages ago when spring 2015 runway shows took place in September in New York, Paris, Milan and London. At that time I did a recap of my favorite spring jackets for women for each city.

Here are the top trends that I picked up on from the shows for jackets/outerwear for spring 2015:

  1. Denim

When it comes to spring jackets for ladies, denim is always an easy choice because it is 100 percent cotton and works over anything. It might be hard to wear this to work but it’s a perfect choice for the weekends over printed dresses and skirts.

  1. Suede

Most of us think of suede as a fall winter fabric, but suede or ultra sued comes in all kinds of weights and the lighter weight pieces are perfect for spring. When shopping for jackets or blazers for women on sale, look for suede pieces in neutrals and beautiful pastels.

  1. Floral prints

Who doesn’t love floral prints for spring? They are so fun and as soon as you put on a colorful floral print you already feel spring is here. There are all kinds of patterns available out there so you can go with your own preference but I strongly recommend a great floral or tropical printed jacket.

  1. Gingham

This is a great subtle pattern, I call it a “no print” print which means its almost like wearing a solid, anyone with any type of figure can wear gingham. You can stick to this kind of pattern if floral patterns or plaids become too much.

  1. Plaid

Normally plaids are more difficult to wear for everyone but the good news is that there a lot of different sizes and shapes out there. Try mixing them with a smaller pattern and definitely a solid.

  1. Military looks

I personally love khaki and tan colors for spring summer; they work perfectly with white or black. A lot of fabrics in this category are cotton based so they work perfectly for spring. Look for a military inspired jacket with gold or brass buttons, it could be belted or cropped but it would be a great addition to your wardrobe.

  1. Soft pastels

Pastels are always perfect for spring summer and there were a lot of beautiful variation of them for spring this year. For some of you, who feel like pastels might be too washed out for you, remember you can go with a little darker shade of them which are called sorbet colors.

  1. Sheer and transparent

The one category where sheer and transparent fabrics work perfectly for are jackets. You can wear them over tank tops or camisoles and they are the perfect fabric to keep you cool.

  1. Vests and sleeveless jackets

My favorite trend which I have talked about before, I have always loved vests and sleeveless jackets as they are so versatile. You can wear them with sweaters for fall and transition into spring with wearing them over a t-shirt or tank top.

Below you can see some pictures for each category from the shows that took place in September.

Before we get into what your thoughts are on all these fabulous trends, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you that entered out Monterey boucle jacket Giveaway in January, and big congratulations to our winner Colleen P. who won this beautiful jacket. We will be having more Giveaways in the coming year and hope you can join all of them.

Now I would love to hear what are your favorite spring 2015 jacket trends?
