Black Coat Over A Fun Dress For My Holiday Look
Black Coat Over A Fun Dress For My Holiday Look
Its Christmas week and I am happy to say I’m finally finished with all my Christmas shopping and wrapping and I am now starting to relax and get into holiday spirit. ย We are going to my nephew’s’ house onย Christmas Eve for dinner and ย family gift exchange and will be staying home on Christmas day.
As you may or not know, I am married to an Englishman (my blog photographer) and we have a tradition of staying home on Christmas day. We start the day lounging by the fire with a “Bucks Fizz” (aka Mimosa) and open our fun stocking stuffers and gifts with my son throughout the morning listening to carols and festive music. My husband then gets to work in the kitchen cooking a traditional English Christmas dinner which usually consists of prawn and avocado cocktail to start , then turkey with all the usual trimmings, pigs in a blanket, brussel sprouts, roast parsnips and gravy and then traditional Christmas pudding which he sets on fire and serves with rum sauce! Oh and this is all done while wearing silly colored hats we get out of the Christmas crackers we pull after we sit down. Itโs a very cozy, casual and relaxing day and itโs my favorite part of Christmas.
Donโt get me wrong I love dressing up during the holidays and going out, and we do plenty of that as well.ย Speaking of parties, last weekend we attended a Christmas party in Pasadena, and this was a great chance to dress up a little for the holidays.ย I love mixing a feminine dress with a masculine tailored jacket or coat.ย I decided to wear my soft, feminine printed dress which has a little bit of red in it (perfect for Christmas right) and add my tailored black coat that I love and donโt get a chance to wear that often.ย The red in the dress was the perfect excuse to add my red sandals and jewelry, giving it more of a Christmas theme.
What are your thoughts on my look and what are your go to looks for Holiday parties?
Finally,ย I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday week with your respective families.
Thank you for all your support and kind words of encouragement throughout the year on my blog stories.ย I read and appreciate each and every one of them.

What a gorgeous Christmas look! I really love the dress – so pretty yet strong enough to hold up against the coat/jacket. Love that piece too – I bet it’s super versatile in your wardrobe. Happy Holidays – and I look forward to more of your blog in the New Year!

Hi Angie,
Thank you so much, you are too sweet! Actually my husband did go to culinary school in England when he was younger and his family had a catering business, but he doesn’t work as a chef…only at home ๐ Hope you have a wonderful holiday as well.

HI Nora, Happy Holidays!! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday. I love the dress, colorful and a I love the drape of it. I really love the necklace, pretty and festive. Your red heels are gorgeous and make me wish I could wear a pair like that. Your day sounds very much like ours, with the exception of the English dinner. I am part English and love my Christmas tea. We also spend Christmas at home, open stockings etc, but get our dinner from Fresh Market, crab stuffed salmon this year and more. I am not a cook ๐ My mom used to make pigs in a blanket, all the talk of food made me hungry! Have a lovely weekend.

We stayed in on Christmas, too, except went to the 5 Star Lounge to see In the Woods in the evening, which was nice and relaxing. We had our family celebration on Christmas Eve. WOW, your husband sounds like an amazing cook! My husband is, too, but still WOW that meal sounds great! We always do our stockings on Christmas Eve and play a dice game when we open them. I just love this dress with the black blazer. The colors on the dress are perfect for the winter, and I love the fitted sleeves!
