My Date Night Look Wearing Our Black Peasant Blouse - Just Style LA

My husband and I always try to have a “date night” a couple of times a month. We usually go out to dinner at least once on the weekend but not all of them are what I would call a “date night” where you actually dress up and go somewhere special where you can really spend one on one time together. Some of them are more casual outings to eat or shop and catch a movie. I think we all need a good balance of both.

For those special “date nights” here are some pointers you can use to look stylish yet sexy and fun:

  1. Wear heels or sexy shoes
  2. Try a fun, chunky jewelry piece that you normally wouldn’t wear during the day
  3. Show some skin but stay classy (if you are showing a lot of leg, be more covered on top and if you are showing cleavage and bare shoulder then be more covered in the bottom, balance is everything.)
  4. Define your waist by wearing something shaped or belted, it does not have to be tight fitting.
  5. Wear a clutch instead of a handbag
  6. Put on a little more make up than usual, brighter lips or nail polish

Today I am sharing with you one of my recent “date night” looks. Typically, a lot of us think of dresses or skirts for a date night and there is nothing wrong with that. I love wearing dresses as well, especially for spring/summer dates. For this recent date night, I chose to wear shorts, because I think they can be a good substitute for a skirt for spring and summer. With shorts, you can still show your legs especially if you wear them with heels to give the whole look a sexy vibe.

I chose to wore our Black Peasant Top which I first styled for you here, with one of my favorite slim black shorts. The Black Peasant top is a perfect top for a night out because is it sexy but not over the top sexy. The lace back shows just enough skin without it being too bare. With my all black look here, it was the best opportunity to wear my favorite new Dolce Vita lace up sandals that I bought recently from Bloomingdales. Lace up shoes are a big trend for this spring and summer and I was pleasantly surprised as how comfortable these are. To finish off the look, I added some gold accents, like my belt and clutch and one of our brand new statement necklace and earring sets that I love. This bib necklace has dangling beads in black and gray and it is such a fun piece and it comes with matching dangling bead earrings. I finished off the look with a few of our new bracelets mixed together.

What is your favorite “date night” look and what do you think of mine?
