Houndstooth Is Fall 2013's "It Pattern" - Just Style LA

I am sure millions of people who wear houndstooth clothing everyday including myself do not know that its popularity comes directly from Scottish history and dates back to 1800s. As old as this pattern is, it did not become iconic until Christian Dior used it in 1959 for court shoes. But since then it has been a big part of fashion history and trends throughout the years and this year is no exception. In fact houndstooth is the pattern to own this fall. Many designers showed some kind of houndstooth inspired pattern on the fall 2013 runways, Michael Kors being one of those designers. Traditionally most of the time houndstooth is done in black and white combination, but this season thanks to Michael Kors and a few other designers you see the pattern in many bright colors combined with black. I think this puts a fresh and new twist on this pattern, and give us another reason to shop for one.

Even though houndstooth pattern can be done in many different items, it is a perfect pattern for jackets and coats. You can actually call it a classic and iconic pattern for outerwear which has been done in different sizes and color combinations throughout the years. It looks great in a jacket or a coat and can take your outfit to the next level. Personally I like wearing only one piece of houndstooth at a time and coordinating it with a solid or another pattern like a pin stripe. But this season a lot of designers are showing them head to toe and as matching suiting. If you are going for this look, stick to a shorter skirt suit or a short dress and jacket together rather than a pant suit all in houndstooth unless the pattern is very small that it almost looks like a solid.

Since Houndstooth is one of my all time favorite patterns, I have included it in my upcoming Jacket Society jacket line which will be up on my website for sale very soon. I will be offering them in a few different color ways and shapes. I will be sharing those pieces with you in the near future, please make sure you check them out on my web site in the next week.

Meanwhile I have put a couple of inspirational pages for you to see different shapes and colors in houndstooth offered this season from different designers. I hope you find a really great piece and share it with me right here….
