Leather Jackets Are A Timeless Trend

Leather Jackets Are A Timeless Trend

I have had this BCBG leather jacket for over five years which was a Christmas gift from my husband that I chose myself.  I can’t tell you how many times I have worn it and I still love it.  Even though it is not a traditional style for a leather jacket, it still stays current and I wear it every season.

Here are some of the reasons I love leather jackets so much:

  1. They always have a “cool factor” and make every outfit look more modern.
  2. It’s easy to travel with them since they don’t wrinkle.
  3. You can wear them to work or play.
  4. They are versatile and work with everything from jeans to a soft dress.
  5. Even though they are more appropriate for fall, you can wear them year round.
  6. They are age appropriate for anyone.

Typically I wear mine a lot with jeans or black skinnies, but I love wearing it with softer pieces like dresses or skirts as well.  Last week I wore it over my Leon Max soft jersey dress with my favorite booties. As soon as I put the leather jacket on over the dress my outfit became cooler and edgier.  The plaid scarf made it more current and trendy and my necklace enhanced the soft element of the outfit. (Scarf Available For Sale – Click Here)

Ever since I started my blog I have been constantly asked in the comments about where I buy my jewelry. So I thought why not buy a few pieces that I really like personally from local artists and jewelry makers and sell them here on my website. All the jewelry you see here are pieces that I have handpicked and would love to wear on daily basis. I always love mixing necklaces and I will offer certain necklaces that look like they are mixed necklaces but they are actually just one piece and at other times I will suggest to you which pieces to mix together to create a special look.
All the Jewelry shown will cover various price points from more affordable pieces to more novel slightly more expensive pieces with precious metals and gems as I myself buy both kinds of jewelry and sometimes even mix them to create a great look.

  1. Leather jackets exude a sense of lux and the Gucci bag is the jewel in the crown. Nicely styled, love the layered neck pieces.

  2. I actually do not own a leather jacket – I am so lacking in the jacket department! But I love this paired with a dress! I have been coveting a cognac leather jacket for a while now. I think they go with everything! Great look today! Susan

  3. Love the grey ruched dress on you with those fabulous booties. THe leather jacket is so cool as I love the larger folded out part of the jacket, I have a similar style as well, as in Charlotte we dont wear many wool coats, so I have more leather jackets in my closet. Love the accessories as well, great eye for those!

  5. I LOVE leather and suede. Frankly, you can’t look bad in anything. I’m new to your blog. Have you ever talked about your exercise routine?

    1. Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I haven’t really talked about my exercise routine, but at the moment I mainly like to walk daily and I do some free weights at home. I like the outdoors especially living in Los Angeles the weather is nice enough that you can walk daily. I have done yoga and pilates in the past and love both but I don’t do either one right now. I am hoping to get back into doing one or the other soon.

  6. my 23-year old son gave me some excellent advice about my black leather Moto. We were going out for pizza and I said, “What do you think, too much for the pizza place? It’s not like we’re going to a rock concert or anything.” To which he replied, “Mom, you wear a leather jacket to a pizza place or anywhere you’re really not trying to look cool. A concert or show at a club is the LAST place you should wear it because you’ll look like all the other baby boomers trying to look cool.” Wise young man, I think!

  9. I recently bought a blue leather jacket but I can’t work out whether I actually like it or not. I don’t look very good in black. I like biker style leather ones with an a-symmetrical zip. I love the edginess of them. I do prefer a real leather one as opposed to faux leather. Love your waterfall one and you look amazing as usual. I have to say, your bum looks incredibly firm!
