Los Angeles Spring Unique LA Show

Los Angeles Spring Unique LA Show

It all started in March when I submitted an application for approval to be  a vendor to participate in the Los Angeles Spring Unique LA Show to be held May 3rd & 4th in the Penthouse at the California Market Center In Downtown Los Angeles. Much to my excitement I was accepted to join the other talented local designers and crafters to exhibit and sell my women’s jacket collection at the event. I attended the vendor orientation meeting at the beginning of April hosted at the Unique Space on 6th & Alameda and came away with a long list of things to do. My priority was the product and designing a booth I could use to help sell the brand and my jackets. I had opted for a 10×10 space at the show so I laid out that measurement in my back yard and started planning the design and look for the booth. After a few weeks of research,  online shopping and a couple of trips to the hardware store I had everything I needed. FYI – If you do not have an Amazon Prime account – get one they save you so much on shipping !

So last weekend it happened, Jacket Society was proud to be a vendor at the Unique LA show which is the largest Made-in-America shopping event in the country. Attendees got the rare chance to meet and shop directly with over 350 hand selected designers and artists. This is a very “unique” situation since there are not many shows like this where you can reach out to your customer directly and introduce them to your product personally as the designer, and for the consumer it’s a great way to support LA’s local economy and discover great designers and artists.

Friday was all about the setup of the booth and getting up our new Spring / Summer jackets finished and ready for the show on Saturday morning. The show hours for both days were 11am-6pm and by Sunday night I was exhausted, my legs felt like I had run a marathon from standing in heels for two days straight, but I had so much fun, it was such a great experience to be part of something where you can meet and interact directly with your customers and be able to explain what you do and why you love what you do. I also really enjoyed meeting other designers and business owners that had created and designed such wonderful imaginative products. It was so great to be a part of an event that supports our local economy and I was so touched by so many women that walked into my booth and gave me such great compliments and encouragement about my jackets and what i am doing. One particular customer who bought two of our jackets wrote a wonderful comment on my blog when she got home after the show that really touched me when I read it and I want to share it here with you all:

“I bought this jacket at Unique LA. I wore it out of the booth and the rest of the day. The fit and construction is perfect. As my first exposure to Jacket Society, I was surprised how well the jackets fit. I bought this one and one of the fall style jackets. When I tried them on at the show, I thought the mirror was distorted to make you look better than reality. Later on it still looked perfect in the mirror at home. Love your jackets!!! I will keep an eye on the website for new styles.”

Comments like this make my day and make all the hard work I put into Jacket Society so worth it and I really appreciate those kind words so very much, as I appreciate all of your support following my blog stories. Thank you again to everyone that stopped by my booth and signed up to be on our email list and of course for those that purchased my women’s jackets; I hope you will enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoy designing them. We will be attending more events and will keep you informed about when and where – I Look forward to meeting you then.

    HI!
I decided to post again, as I liked the pink/coral jacket you showed and love this brocade one as well. You can see how great some boyfriend jeans look with a pretty cami and one of your jackets. Lovely!

      Hi Jess,
Thank you again for coming back. The whole concept behind my Jacket Society jacket line is that you can put on jeans and a tank and throw on a nice jacket with it and you are good to go pretty much anywhere 🙂

Hi. My favourite look is the jeans and a jacket one. I love the stripey jacket you have on, I have one just like it from Karen Millen. I also love the gold one, the brocade one and I think I see a coral one on your rail. Maybe it’s just as well I’m British or else I’d be buying all of them!

I’m convinced all big success stories start with a story like yours where you exhibit at trade fairs or shows, and I admire your courage to bring your brand into the showcase at an event like this! Your jackets are gorgeous, and very much what I prefer to wear.
