Our Soft Lemon Drop Jacket Styled For The Office
Our Soft Lemon Drop Jacket Styled For The Office
We have had some strange weather in Los Angeles this summer and last weekend’s weather was the strangest yet. Saturday we woke up to thunder, lightning and torrential rain that continued throughout the day. At times, the lightning was so close and loud it made me jump out of my skin. Sunday it cleared up a little bit and it was supposed to stay that way until the evening. We figured we could do our blog shoot late in the afternoon and be ok. Needless to say the weather forecast was wrong and it started raining hard around 5:00 pm. We were very lucky because we had literally just finished the shoot and were getting in our car when it started pouring down with rain. Talk about calling it close! I am not complaining though since we really need this rain in California as we are in the middle of a severe drought.
As I mentioned last week on my blog story, we have just added some new jackets to our website. The two solid jackets – the Lemon drop jacket and the Cosmo jacket – are made out of beautiful soft sanded rayon. They are the same jacket body but in two different colors. This week I wanted to style one of them for an office look because the jackets are softer and some of you may not think of them as office appropriate. I decided to go with the Lemon drop jacket for this week and next week I will style the Cosmo jacket for a more casual weekend look. A lot of women think of blazers as the only office ready jacket and even though blazers are great for the office, there are a lot of other softer jackets that can be worn to the office if you know how to style them the right way. Personally, I like the contrast of wearing a softer jacket with a more constructed and serious look and a blazer with a softer, casual look.
I styled the Lemon drop jacket with a black pencil skirt and a print top both of which are perfect for an office. I tucked in the top and belted it to give it a more finished look and added our beautiful black and grey stone tassel necklace. I wanted to wear my gold sandals (purchased from Zara sale) to pick up the gold in the belt buckle and my necklace to enhance the color of the jacket itself, which is a very soft yellow that I call “Maze”. If you can not wear sandals to work, this look will work just as well with pumps or any closed toe heels that are appropriate for the office.
You can purchase our Lemon drop jacket here and the necklace here.
I would love to hear your thoughts on my look and our Lemon drop jacket?

Well you’re lucky the Sunday rain didn’t catch you. We weren’t so lucky. I haven’t had pictures taken yet this week because of heavy clouds and my husband’s work schedule. I’ve decided to use this time to focus on other things.
You look lovely as always. This shade of yellow is so sweet and the name is very appropriate.

As usual, your look today is stunning, down to the very last detail. I never would have put lemon and black together but it really works here. Your jewellery is again perfect.

Hi Lorna mai,
I know what you mean, black would not be the first color I would think of putting together with lemon either, but when I put this outfit together it somehow worked perfectly and I went with it. Thank you so much for stopping by!

That’s is such an elegant jacket. I can’t think why someone would think it wasn’t suitable for the office. It’s a style that will work with so many outfits from smart to casual. Lemon isn’t a colour I can wear really as it doesn’t suit my complexion but it looks gorgeous against the black pencil skirt.

I love the soft yellow paired with the black and white. My mom keeps telling me the weather is so crazy. We have been having beautiful weather here in NYC. Probably the first time I am happy to be here instead of SoCal. I hope the weather is on it’s way back to sunshine and beautiful for you all. xo ~ Megan The Fashionista Momma

I agree I hope California keeps getting rain and comes out of the draught, even if that means that your photoshoots may get a little damp…ph well i’m sure your jackets will hold up! This one is so stunning and perfect for the spring or fall…I hear pastels will be huge this fall.
Thank you for joining the #reasonstodress linkup and hope to have you back tomorrow!

Hi Angie,
Even though I am more of a sun loving girl, I hope we get more rain too because I know we need it. I am so glad you like the jacket and you are absolutely right about pastels being a big trend for fall, thank you for stopping by.
