Robe Coat Trend Alert For Fall 2014

Robe Coat Trend Alert For Fall 2014

It seems so long ago when the Fall 2014 runway shows were taking place in Europe and New York back in February. In the last few months we are starting to see some of those actual clothes and trends arriving in US stores.  One of the biggest emerging trends related to jackets or coats that I picked up on back then was the “Robe Coat”.    They have a great loungey look and are very easy to wrap yourself in them.  In my opinion they are the perfect combination of style and comfort.  They look more dramatic and chic when you are cinching them closed, especially over a slick pencil skirt or sexy dress.  Meanwhile you can wear these coats open and loose over jeans or slim pants and get a more casual look.

A lot of designers showed stunning versions of the robe coat at their runway shows back in February. Some of the examples are Altazurra, Celine, The Row and several others.  I have included some of the pictures below to get you inspired for your fall/winter wardrobe.  The best part is that there are many lower price versions of these styles out there as well.  Anyone can find one that works for them from color to silhouette and price.  Below I have also included a few Robe coats I like  from brands that are more accessible to most of us with links to their websites to view.  I am definitely in the hunt for one right now and will keep you informed when and where I find it.

What do you think; will you be shopping for one?

  1. Nora, love this look. I have a cashmere robe coat that I bought at a CBS sample sale probably 10 years ago, at the time I wasn’t sure what I’d wear it with but just knew it was a classic. I’m going to have to get it out and wear it once the weather gets cooler.

Love your suggestion to wear loose and open with blue jeans, I need to try this look!
