Statement Blouses That Make Any Outfit Pop
Yesterday we celebrated my son’s 21st birthday. July 7th 1996 he came into this world and I can not believe it has been 21 years since that exciting day and let me tell you the last 21 years have been the best years of my life. I am so proud of the young man he has become, someone I now can call my best friend and my son. He is currently celebrating with his friends in Las Vegas which seems to be the normal thing to do these days when you turn 21. We celebrated with him on Thursday night with a very special family dinner in Pasadena.
Oh yes todays style feature: For obvious reasons, blouses and tops are such an important category for summer. We tend to wear less layers on hotter days, so the pieces that we do wear need to be unique especially for going out with friends or even a date night. Therefore, I like to call this group of tops and blouses “statements blouses”.
Today I am showing you two such pieces that I think are so elegant and sophisticated, one is a new piece and the second one I have styled for you once a few weeks ago. I have styled both blouses with my skinny jeans but they both will work with other bottoms as well. I would just suggest you stay on the slim side for the bottom as the blouses are already full so they look best with skinny pants or slim skirts or shorts.
The new top is our Leaf Print Cape Blouse. This is such a fun blouse with a beautiful print. The body is unique in the sense that it is a regular blouse but it has an overlay on top giving you that cape look and that is why I call it a cape blouse. The cape part which is attached to the sides is very loose and flowy making the top super easy to move in.
You can really see the shape in one of the photos below where the wind is blowing it out naturally. Since it is a V neck in front and back, there is a thin tie that keeps the back from falling off the shoulders. You can see many more photos of it close up in our shop.
The second look is with our Garden of Roses Poncho Blouse which I first styled for you here. This statement blouse is a very soft, pretty and feminine blouse and I have personally worn this out many times this summer.

Wow Kathy, that’s amazing! My son was born on 7/7/96 and when you do the calculations, 1996 sums down to number 7 so we used to call him jackpot baby :)) Your daughter’s birthday is the real deal, talk about lucky numbers!
