Wearing My Red Theory Blazer To See The Movie Dior And I
Wearing My Red Theory Blazer To See The Movie Dior And I
As I mentioned in my blog story last week about fashion movies, we were looking forward to seeing Dior and I, a documentary movie that was screened at many film festivals last year and is now in a limited general release in movie theatres around the world.
Because it is still in limited release and it is a smaller independent movie, it was only playing in one movie theater in Los Angeles area, the Nuart Theatre.
The Nuart was built in 1929 and remodeled in 2006, but they have maintained the exterior art deco design, which looks beautiful. The Nuart Theatre is also a Los Angeles premiere art house movie venue and the flagship movie theatre of the more modern Landmark theatre chain who are known as nations’ largest theatre chain dedicated to exhibiting and marketing independent films.
My husband and I ordered our tickets online Friday for a matinee showing on Saturday and we finally got to see the movie along with many other fashionista’s.
I loved this movie, as it shows the Inspiration, creativity, hard work and exquisite workmanship that is involved in putting together a haute couture collection. It’s the story behind Dior’s 2012 Fall haute couture collection and how Raf Simon, a Belgian designer who came from a minimalist design house Jill Sander with no haute couture experience, is intoduced to the house of Dior and puts this collection together in two months. This film contains intimate moments and scenes of high pressure for the designer and his crew and I highly recommend this movie to anyone interested in how fashion design houses, especially couture houses function and operate to create these beautiful garments and why they cost as much as they do.
The Nuart Theatre is close to the Century City Westfield outdoor mall, so after the movie we decided to head out there and do a bit of shopping and have a nice dinner.
As far as my outfit, I wore a tank top and jeans with one of my all time favorite knit blazers by Theory in red. I have had this knit blazer for couple of years now and I love the color especially with the gold buttons and gold zipper details on the sleeve. I left the zippers on the sleeves open and folded them up to give it more spring/summer look. As far as accessories I added one of our beautiful matt gold chain and tassel necklace and our beautiful blue and white leopard print scarf, which is perfect for spring.
Both of these items are available on our web site here and here.
What do you think of my look and has anyone else seen this movie?

Another gorgeous outfit Nora. That jacket is stunning as is the colour. I’ve just bought a casual styled jacket in a similar colour & can’t wait to wear it.

Such a shame that jacket is old. It is exactly the jacket I am hunting for. For three years now. Nowhere to be found… a red, fitted jacket. And Theory is one of my favourite brands.
You look so good in it. Drooling…
Greetje-
Hi Greetje,
I am so sorry, I know how frustrating it is to look for something specific you need and not find it in stores. It happens to me all the time. Thank you so much for stopping by and good luck finding a red blazer!

I’m seeing the movie on Friday and I’m so excited about it. I adored the Christian Dior and did a post on him about a month ago. I look forward to the behind the scenes peek.
