A Weekend Movie And Casual Dinner Date
A Weekend Movie And Casual Dinner Date
I love reading and have been an avid reader for a long time now. It is one of my biggest hobbies as it really relaxes me when I find a great book that can take me on a journey. I used to and still try to read a couple of chapters of any book I am currently into right before I go to sleep. Although it’s been tougher to keep that habit going in the last year or so because of I pads and social media apps, I sometimes find myself spending too much time on the internet and before I know it I am too tired to read. I am working to change that habit and go back to reading more books at night.
A few years ago I read Gillian Flynn’s “Gone Girl” and absolutely loved it. It was one of those books I couldn’t put down, the characters and story were so intriguing, I could not wait to read what would happen next. I love mysteries and this book is definitely a good “dark” thriller mystery. I won’t say anything about the story as it has now been made into a movie that is currently a top box office hit. Most of the time when I read a book, the movie usually disappoints as the authors vision is lost in the translation. But I have to say this movie comes very close to the book in my opinion, which is probably because Gillian Flynn wrote the screenplay for the movie as well which I think was a great idea to keep it true to the book. It could also be the combination of great directing and filmmaking by David Fincher and the strong acting cast.
I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, so last weekend my husband and I had a casual dinner and movie date night to go see it. Going to the movies is actually one of the things we both love to do, especially this time of the year it seems like the better quality movies are released. As far as my look for our date night, I am wearing a casual weekend look with my favorite cropped trench inspired jacket that I have had for a few years with skinny ripped jeans and my pointy leopard flats that I love. It’s easy, casual look yet still very stylish. What do you think of this look?
Oh and please tell me your thoughts about this book or movie, and if you haven’t seen it or read the book, I highly recommend both.

This look is so gorgeous on you – casual yet elegant at the same time! I also love to read, and have found myself not devoting the time that I used to – mostly due to blogging! Getting in more reading time is a definite fall goal of mine!

Hi Lana,
Lol I know what you mean by no time to read because we are blogging :)) Thanks so much for stopping by!

That is a fabulous jacket and perfect for a casual dinner date. I own a similar cropped khaki jacket by Express. Your leopard shoes are stunning and I am wearing my own pair of leopard pumps today. I’d wear this outfit exactly as is. Beautifully done, Nora.
Happy Wednesday! <3 Ada.

Very cute jacket! Love the whole look. I haven’t read the book because I’m nervous I’ll hate it… I’ve read some really mixed reviews!!
-
Hi Jodi,
Thank you so much…yes the book and the story is quite dark so it is very personal as far as liking it or hating it….

I read the book too, for book club. Saw the movie last weekend, and I agree with you. Best book/movie I’ve seen in long time. I just finished her other two books, just as great, I highly recommend them. Also, love your MK flats, had to have. Found on Ebay NIB for $43!! Thanks for being so fashionable!
-
Hi Mandy,
Wow I am glad someone else liked the book and the movie as much as I did! How lucky for you to find those MK flats on Ebay, I paid $150.00 for them last year, full price 🙁
Thanks for stopping by!

I love those shoes!!! And it is such a cute casual date night look. I loved Gone Girl too and read it years ago. I was so excited for the film and hurried my husband along into reading it so we could see the movie. We love going to the movies too. He HATED it. Was so mad at the end like so many others and doesn’t want to see the film. I’ll see it on my own eventually.

Nora, I am loving the cropped jacket and paired with the distressed denim and collage of necklaces – a great look!! Just saw Gone Girl myself and loved it! Usually movies adapted from books aren’t that great, but this movie did not disappoint.
-
Hi Cherie,
Yay I love that you loved Gone Girl…I totally agree. Thanks you so much for stopping by!

I read the book Gone Girl over a year ago and I wish I had read it again prior to seeing the movie. I really enjoyed the movie, but at first I was hesitant about it. I am currently starting the Outlander series, I am still on book 1… but, it is so good! I love the jacket to this outfit, it really makes a simple tee and jeans look so put together!!
-
Hi Carrie,
Wow I have to check out the Outlander series…thank you so much for stopping by!

WHAT? You’re a blogger and still have time to read. Ok you NEED to let me in on your secret!!
As usual this look is really perfect. Casual enough for a movie and yet still so chic! I love cropped jackets and you are inspiring me to wear the ones I have much more often.

Hi Melesa,
Thank you!

I live in my distressed boyfriend jeans on the weekends, I just love how comfortable they are. I really enjoyed reading Gone Girl and have not had a free weekend to go see the movie. I heard the movie was really good.
Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you this Thursday.

Hi Alice,
Thank you for the linkup opportunity and you should go see the movie while its out!

Gorgeous outfit! I love the way you accessorise your outfits too – I struggle with that! I’m with Ang though!! How do you read?! To be fair I’m an excellent sleeper so the second I get into bed I’m literally asleep within the first line of a book. Takes a long time to read a book when you’re reading a line a day 😉 thanks for linking up to #allaboutyou xxx

Hi Hannah,
Thank you so much for stopping by. I wish I could fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow but unfortunately it takes me a while to fall asleep so reading helps.

Lovely outfit. The cute flats are my favourite.

Hi Kiki,
Thank you so much for stopping by. Those Michael Kors flats are the best!

Love the cropped trench – a fun spin on a classic. I have heard good things about the book and movie. Although I think everyone who read it said the book is better but I am not sure if that is just because they already knew all the twists & surprises.
-
Hi Jane,
Thank you for stopping by and I agree the book is always better but this movie comes pretty close to the book.

Hi Nora loving your blog and all your beautiful clothes. I am 5’4″ and a US size 8 on top and 6 on the bottom half. Was wondering if you have to be tall to wear what you do. Thanks
-
Hi Rosemary,
Not at all as I am also 5’4″. I have done a blog story on all our jackets so if you look at my photos and where they hit me as far as hip, high hip or waist that is how it will be for you. Sounds like you will be a perfect size medium for us. Let me know if you have questions in regards to any particular style?
